In Act 1 SC3 Laertes and his younger sister Ophelia are having a dicussion about the affection that Hamlet has been showing to her recently. Here we can see Laertes playing the role of the big brother and warning his younger sister of the true nature of Hamlet's affection. Before this point Laertes' role was that of a son asking permission to leave from his father and his king, but now we can see a much more responsive and mature version of Laertes.
[Line 6-11, Act1 Sc3]
"For Hamlet, and the trifling of his favor, Hold it a fashion and toy in blood, A violet in the youth of primy nature, Forward, not permanent, sweet, not lasting, The perfume and suppliance of a minute, No more."
