Laertes development

"But, good my brother, / Do not, as some ungracious pastors do, / Show me the steep and thorny way to heaven, / Whiles, (like) a puffed and reckless libertime, / Himself the primrose path of dalliance treads And recks not his own rede."
(1.3 50-55)

Here we see Ophelia, Laertes sister responding to his advice about Hamlet's new found love for her. Laertes advises her to not give in to Hamlet's tenders and play it safe. However, Ophelia slips in a little hint into Laertes own life. She in a sense says that she would respect his advice, and follow it but she tells him to heed his own advice. This gives the reader an idea that Laertes is quite reckless in his own personal life.
